Office Wear: Outfit & Makeup

Hey! Today's blogpost is one I haven't done on the blog. Basically, today I am going to share with you a really basic office look together with a simple makeup look which is a bit more than just four products, for the simple reasonn that it is probable that we want to look more put together in the office.

For the outfit I went for the basic pieces because you cannot really go wrong with these. I chose a midi skirt - make sure you wear a skirt that is long enough for the office. You can choose obviously different colours such as navy blue or grey but I opted for the basic black.

For shirt I wore a white long sleeve shirt which I tucked in the skirt. You can again, opt for different colours that are 'office appropriate' such as navy blue, black, grey, baby pink or green. For shoes I went for my basic black court heels. I feel that this type of shoes is a statement piece when it comes to office wear. If you prefer wearing flats, obviously do so! You can switch this up by wearing a ballerina shoes or a pair of wedges if you prefer those type of shoes.

Moving on to makeup, I tried going for something simple and easy yet something that ties the outfit together and makes you look put together.

Starting off with foundation I used the LÓreal Infallible 24 hour Foundation. I apply these with my brush rather than with a beauty blender. Haven't used that thing in a while haha! I then move on to concealer using the Maybelline Instant Eye Eraser Concealer to cover up any dark spots and blemishes - especially if I would probably wake up late on a work day! To finish off the base of this look, I use the Artdeco Powder Foundation.

Now this is something that I wouldn't wear for university or school because I feel that it is too much but for work I think it is appropriate - keeping in mind that less is more! I will be lightly contouring my face to give my face a more structured look. For this, I am using the Catrice Matte Bronzer Powder. I have started using this product more generously on my forehead just to try and make it look smaller!  For blush I use the Milani Baked Blush in 03 Berry Amore.

I do like to apply a bit of liquid eyeliner to the outer part of my eyelid (not across the whole lid). I finish off the look with a generous amount of mascara and some nude lipstick. I believe that the best lipstick you can wear to the office is a nude, peachy or light pink shade. I would stay away from matte shades. Although there are people that wear them without a problem, I just feel that the regular lipsticks work better for the office.

That's it for today's post!

Deborah X

November Favourites

I know what you're thinking, ''Don't you think that November Favourites are a bit too late now?!''. And you're right but I decided to post it anyways just because I wanted to share with you my favourite items at the moment - especially if you're looking for something similar for yourself or as a gift!

Primer

The first thing I am going to talk to you about is the Catrice Prime & Fine Fixing Spray. I am not one who normally uses primers and setting sprays however, I tried it out a couple of weeks ago for my graduation makeup and I ended up loving it. I really think it was thanks to it that my makeup stayed on for such a long time. I just spray it before I even start applying anything to my face and finish with it after I have done all my makeup.

Face

For face products I have two favourites which include a pressed powder, a blush and a bronzer.  For the pressed powder I am loving the Artdeco Powder Foundation. I have been using this product for a couple of months, and I love particularly how smooth and flawless it makes my skin look plus it's also very lightweight.

Another favourite of mine is the Catrice Matte Bronzer Powder. It is super affordable and very easy to work with. I created a makeup look in the first days of blogmas featuring this product which you can check out here.

Eyes

For mascara, I am a bit picky. Since I don't really have naturally long lashes I like to find a mascara that makes my lashes look long and full. That's why I have been using the Catrice Little Black One Mascara.

For eyeliner I recently re-discovered the Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner - I just love how black and perfect it makes your eyeliner look. A couple of days ago I found out about this new product that Rimmel just launched and which I think is perfect for the festive activities that we might have at the moment. I'm talking about the Wonder'Swipe 2-in-1 Liner to Shadow which is basically a gold eyeliner which you can smudge to get a pretty golden shade of eye-shadow. It's not something dramatic but it's something really fun plus you can make the eyeliner as thick as you want. I talk more about these new Rimmel products in the recent blogmas post where I created a makeup look using only Rimmel products which you can check out here.

Lips

Let's face it, we all need that perfect nude shade for when we just want some colour to our lips but nothing too extreme. My current nude favourite is the Wet n Wild in Nudist Peach. Every time I apply it, I am in awe of how good my lips look after I apply it and how it does not make my lips dry AT ALL. Plus, it's super cheap!

I cannot do a blogmas post without mentioning some type of red lipstick, I mean we are heading towards Christmas right? My current favourite is my newly purchased ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip (ILuvSarahii collab) in Arriba. It's a perfect shade of red, and as always ColourPop matte liquid lipsticks do not dry out your lips.

And that's the end of my November favourites. Thank you so much for reading yet another blogpost and supporting my blog. I'll talk to you very soon!

Deborah X

One Brand Makeup Look - Rimmel #1

Hi Beauties! It's time for another makeup look! I know this is coming to you a day late but my laptop broke down (I didn't back up the files - I'm stupid I know!) and I thought I lost everything but luckily I managed to recover the files - now I am just waiting for my laptop to get fixed.

Among the suggestions that you send to me, a lot of you ask for more makeup looks and today that's what I am bringing you. I'm starting this 'series' on my blog which I am going to call One Brand Makeup Look where basically I choose a makeup brand and do a complete makeup look with products from that brand only. Don't worry I chose a super affordable brand, a brand which you can find in Malta and a brand that I have been trying and using ever since I started experimenting with makeup. My first brand in this 'series' is Rimmel.

For Foundation I used the Rimmel BB Cream. I have been using this product for a really long time and it honestly never let me down. It gives medium-full coverage and I use it on those days when I don't want too much makeup on my face or when I don't have a lot of blemishes to cover up.

For concealer I use the #InstaConceal&Contour and I use the middle shade to cover up any blemishes, dark areas or pimples. For pressed powder I use the Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder. Again, I have been using this for ages now and I always buy these two at a time, just to have backup of it PLUS I always hit pan with these - that's how good they are!

For my black eyeliner I use the Wonder Wing Eyeliner. It is SO pigmented and I love having a very black eyeliner. It is so easy to apply, doesn't smudge and dries within seconds.

Recently, Rimmel launched some new products particularly the new gold liquid eyeliner. I thought it was absolutely perfect for this upcoming festive season (I did talk about it in one of my vlogs). What's so cool about it is that if you smudge the eyeliner, it will change into a glittery eyeshadow. This is the Wonder'Swipe 2-in-1 Liner to Shadow. I tried taking a photo of my eyelid, I really hope you can see clearly just how gorgeous it is!

Rimmel also launched three new products which are the Scandal Eyes Mascara, the Stay Satin Liquid Lip Colour and the Maxi Blush. With regards to the mascara I would use it for a more natural look such as if I'm going to university, running errands or a shopping day with my friends. Although the mascara is not one (in my opinion) which gives a fuller look and adds length to your lashes, it is a mascara that would be perfect for a natural look and one that stays on for a while!

The Stay Satin Liquid Lip Colour is AMAZING. Mine is in the colour 430 For Sure. Firstly, i just love this colour. It's so pigmented and bright and I justlove it haha! Also, it stays on for quite some time and it doesn't make your lips dry or flake.

Onto the blush, mine was in the shade 006 Exposed. This product is very lightweight and it gives your cheeks a burst of colour that lasts all day - not too bright, just that little subtle colour on your cheeks.

Finally, for brows I use the Brow This Way Sculpting Kit. I normally go for the powder pan rather than the cream one.

A giveaway will be up tomorrow morning (you're the first to know!) with some Rimmel products so make sure you check out Distorted Priorities early tomorrow morning.

In the meantime here are some previous blogmas posts that you can check out!

I'll talk to you real soon!

Deborah X

Easy Bronzy Makeup

Today's blogmas post is a simple makeup look. This look is somewhere between natural and smoky. Without further ado, let's get into it.

For foundation I am using my usual one - L'Oreal Infallible 24hr Matte Foundation. I have been using a buffing brush instead of a beauty blender to apply foundation or concealer on my face as I found it quicker and you actually waste less product this way!

For concealer I have been super tired lately, so a concealer is a must have for me! I have been trying out a new concealer which is the Shiseido Sheer Eye Zone Corrector and apply that to under my eyes as well as my pimples (which I've been having quite a lot of!). To set everything off I use the Artdeco Powder Foundation to set everything in place and have a matte look.

For my eyebrows I've been using the Catrice Eyebrow Stylist. I have found this SO useful because I don't have to carry a brush to fill in the brows and a spoolie to put everything in place. It's a dual-end product so on one side you have the eyebrow pencil and on the other end you have the spoolie, which is very convenient!

For my eyeshadow I use the Kathleen Lights palette in collaboration with ColourPop. I first went in with Taurus and applied that all over my lid as a base colour. Afterwards, I applied a mix of Virgo and Capricorn to my outer V to create more of a smokier look - although it's still quite a natural look. I blended everything together really well. I then used my fixing spray on my brush so that it helps with making the eyeshadow shade more pigmented and applied the Kiko Milano Long Lasting Wet & Dry Use Eyeshadow in the shade 234 which is a gorgeous copper gold shade.

To finish off the look I applied a bit of liquid eyeliner on my lid and mascara to my top and bottom lashes. For my contouring I used the Catrice Matte Bronzer Powder which is water resistant and my current favourite - it stays on for so long plus it is super affordable!

I finished the look by applying a bit of blush and a pink-nude matte liquid lipstick with the Essence Colour Boost in 04 mad matters.

And that is the finished bronzy look...easy right?!

Thank you for reading yet another blogpost - I will leave a link to the recent blogmas posts as well as vlogmas videos at the end of this post. Also, don't forget to participate in the ongoing giveaway before it's too late!

I am also answering some of your questions in the upcoming vlogs so if you have anything you want to ask me feel free to do so here.

Review: Uriage Water Mist

Hi everyone! Hope you had an amazing weekend. I'm currently extremely busy: university, work and the blog! But I promise you I am preparing some very exciting things for the month of December. For starters I will be doing Blogmas again this year as well as other new things - so stay tuned to find out more soon!

Today I will be talking to you about the Uriage Water Mist. I have been trying it out and using it for a couple of weeks now and I honestly love how simple it is to use it. I tend to use products in my skincare routine that do not require a long process to apply just because I'm lazy with my skin!

This product is part of the Thermal Water range. The Water Mist contains SPF 30 - it protects your skin from pollution as it contains Vitamin E and protects you from the sun. It's also very hydrating for the skin.

I worked with my friend Dawn on this video just to show you how easy it is to apply it - you simply spray it onto your face and you're done. Due to its size you can literally take it anywhere with you as it will fit in your bag.

Let me know what you think of the video, would love to hear your thoughts!

Until next time!

Love,
Deborah X

Trying out Golden Rose Cosmetics - Review, Swatches & Makeup Look

Hi beauties! It's finally Friday, time to relax and enjoy the weekend! A couple of days ago Beauty Cosmos sent me these product to try out and review. One of their brands is Golden Rose Cosmetics. Now if you have been following me for a while, you know that despite the fact that they sent me the products I will still give you my 100% honest opinion and review on ALL the products. If you'd like to check out the review I did with another set of products last year, you can check it out here.

We've got eight products in total to review so without further ado, let's get into it!

The first two products I got are the Liquid Matte Lipsticks, one is in the shade 28 and the other one is in number 29. The colours are very similar to each other and they are a very pigmented shade of dark fucshia - with number 29 being slightly more shimmery (despite the fact that it dries out as matte). They are not drying at all and they last a really long time - I wore number 28 last Saturday and it lasted all night. Plus when I got home and removed it, it didn't smudge or leave a pigmented undertone on my lips.

Now the next couple of products are from the new collection Diamond Breeze.  The first thing I tried out is the Shimmering Highlighter in the shade 02 Champagne which as you can see is in a liquid form. I applied this lightly on my cheek bones and I was IMPRESSED by the pigmentation. If you want your highlight game to be strong, then you have GOT to get this!

This next product is quite new to me in the sense that I do not own that many liquid eyeshadows so I was pleased to try out this Shimmering Liquid Eyeshadow in the shade 01 24K Gold. You can either apply this all over the lid and then build up the eyeshadow look with browns and yellows since this is a gold shade. What I love to do is first applying eyeshadow like normal with similar shades to gold, so again I would go for browns, yellows or maybe some burnt orange and then apply only a small amount of the liquid eyeshadow in the middle of my eyelid to create contrast within the eye look.

In the makeup look below I decided to try something new - so I went for a purple-burgundy eyeshadow look and then used this liquid eyeshadow as a contrast.

One of their lipsticks from this collection is the Shimmering Lipstick in the shade 04 Plum Sparkle. The lipstick shade is so gorgeous - I got lost just staring at it haha! You can clearly see sort of glitter specs on the lipstick itself and when you apply it on your lips it comes out looking so perfect! Obviously, this does not have a matte formula and it is not 100% opaque.

Next up is the Shimmering Lip Topper in the shade 03 Nude Sparkle. I love the nude-bronzy colour it has which compliments any type of lipstick you want to add some sparkle to! You simply apply this on top of your favourite lipstick!

The Matte Metallic Lipstick in the shade 58 Plum also has such a beautiful metallic shade which is long lasting, has a matte finish and gives full coverage. If you're looking for new products that can get you ready for fall time - this is the shade for you!

And finally onto our last product I tried out the Shimmering Body Glow in the shade 01 Dazzle Gold. This product is super easy to use - if you want to add that extra glow to your body, maybe you're going out for a night out or with Halloween coming up you want to create a makeup look which is super glistening and glittery or even just going out for dinner and just want to add some sparkle (which by the way looks extremely natural!), then I highly suggest this product.

That's it for today's post, have a lovely weekend everyone!

Deborah X

Uriage launches NEW Anti-Aging Range

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that yesterday evening I was invited to the launch of Uriage's Anti-Aging Range. The event was very well set up and planned and I loved how we had an informative session where we got a bit more familiar with the range. It was also so nice to catch up with my blogger friends.

Onto the new range..

The base of the products from this brand is thermal water which flows across the French Alps. This thermal water builds a barrier around your skin.

80% of women's skin aging is due to exposome. This is the combination of environmental and lifestyle factors that impact skin aging.  This includes UV rays, pollution, stress, fatigue and cigarette smoke. Now recently, a new exposome has been found which is present in our lives (without even knowing!). This is the BLUE LIGHT.

Blue light is produced by LED and digital screens generating a visible light intensity. Blue light in particular is up to 1000 times higher than the eye comfort threshold. We are exposed to an average of six hours of blue light EVERY DAY - that's three months in a whole year! We are exposed to this exposome mostly when we are on our phones or on our computers - which I'm pretty sure everybody uses!

There are a couple of steps that one can do to prevent your skin from aging such as removing your makeup and cleaning your face everyday, drinking at least 1.5 litres of water per day, using moisturizers to nourish our skins and use anti-aging products.

Uriage's new range contains seven products which target normal to dry skin and normal to combination skin including multi-action creams, eye contour, serums, night cream and peeling night cream.

I have been given an eye contour and night cream to try out and will definitely let you know my thoughts on them on both my Instagram and Facebook page in the coming weeks.

I'd like to thank Uriage for the invite to this amazing event! I hope you liked today's post and I'll talk to you later on this week with the second blogpost for this week.

Deborah X

5 minute makeup look! #BacktoSchool

It's finally the WEEKEND! How's school or university going?! I'm here today to help you out and make your life a tad easier. Today I will be showing you my five minute makeup look I have been wearing to work or university. This is suitable for anyone, whether you're a student or a full time employee!

I don't like wearing a lot of makeup to university but obviously feel free to alter this look to your liking!

1st step: Concealer

We have GOT to cover those under eye circles, any blemishes, redness or spots. I love using the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Corrector. I'm in the shade 01 Light. I apply that under my eyes and a bit on my forehead.

2nd step: Pressed Powder

I have been using the Artdeco Sun Protection Powder Foundation just to help with mattifying the concealer that we just applied.

3rd step: Blush

I normally look quite pale in the morning so I put on some blush to add a pop of colour to my cheeks. I have been using the Milani Baked Powder Blush in 03 Berry Amore.

4th step: Brows

I don't do much to my eyebrows as I am going for light makeup. I found the Catrice Eyebrow Stylist to work best because you don't need any brushes to apply it - you have one end that has the eyebrow pencil and the other end you have the spooly brush to fix everything in place. I just use light strokes to quickly fill in my sparse areas.

5th step: Lashes & Mascara

I don't like putting on heaps of mascara but I love when my eyes pop out so I apply quite a generous amount of mascara to my lashes. What I recently found really helpful is to use an empty mascara bottle and use the wand to go through my lashes to remove any excess mascara and with any product I would have on my wand, I use that to apply it to my lower lashes. For this I use the Catrice Little Black One Volume Mascara.

6th step: Lips

Finally, the lest step would be putting on lip balm on my lips. I LOVE the Uriage Moisturizing Lipstick. If you like adding some colour to your lips you can always opt for a coloured lip balm.

And that is it! In my opinion, the finished makeup look looks quick, easy and makes you look put together.

That's it for today, wishing you all a happy weekend!

Love,
Deborah X

Review: New Essence Products!

Hey everyone! It's been AGES since I last talked to you. I was so busy with everything in my life and to be honest with you I wasn't feeling quite inspired to write blogposts & I really wanted to take my time to brainstorm for new content that is different and unique. Finally I am back & I couldn't be more excited about it! I'm going on a mini-trip this Wednesday which I am super excited about so make sure to follow me on Instagram to see where I am heading.

For today's post, I will be reviewing a couple of new products from Essence. If you follow me on Instagram you know that I received a surprise package from them & I couldn't wait to try out the products. I also filmed a quick video with the makeup look I created which you can check out on my Instagram in the BEAUTY highlights. Enough about that now, REVIEW TIME!

Mattifying + Pore Minimizing Primer

Okay, so I tried this out as a base for the makeup look I created in the video. I spent the whole day with my makeup on because I had to run some errands and had to prepare the luggage for my trip and didn't feel like removing it! Through it all my makeup lasted the whole day and didn't get oily at all so I highly recommend this!

#InstaPerfect Liquid Makeup

I have to admit, this shade was a bit too light for my skin tone but nonetheless I still tried working with it because I wanted to see whether it was actually good or not. Loved how easy it was to work with it as well as its consistency of it - I would say it's a medium coverage foundation.

Camouflage+ Concealer

Probably one of my favourite things from this collection. The coverage is amazing and it dries completely matte without creasing. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I Need A Miracle Volumizing & Straightening Mascara

This product serves its purpose as a mascara however it's definitely not my favourite mascaras from this brand. I tried so many other ones (by this same brand) that I feel truly gives you the volumizing effect better than this one does.

Too Glam to Give A Damn Eyeshadow Palette

This palette comes with nine different shades, four of which are shimmery. I must admit they were slightly harder to blend but the pigmentation makes up for it as these are SUPER pigmented and look really nice on the eyes!

Go For the Glow Highlighter Palette

This palette comes with three different shades of highlighters, a bronzy one, a pink-ish one and a peachy one. In the video I opted for the middle shade which is the more pinkish shade but didn't really like it as a highlighter as I ended up looking as if I have blush on my cheek bones so I would definitely opt for the other two shades as highlight.

Melted Chrome Eyeshadow

I have two words for this product: SUPER PIGMENTED!

Colour Boost Liquid Lipstick (in the shade 04 mad matters)

I only managed to try out this product from the lip products. All of the products swatch really really nicely. Mad Matters, which is the one I actually tried is the perfect shade of pinkish-nude and it dries so beautifully as a matte shade PLUS it doesn't leave the lips dry at all!

That's it for today! Make sure to follow me on Instagram to keep up to date with my upcoming trip!

Love,
Deborah X
