Outfit Post: Day time/Night time Transformation

Hi guys! Today I'm a tad more excited than usual and I've got a very valid reason!  Stay tuned till the end of the post for a possible giveaway ๐Ÿ˜‰

For today's post I decided to share with you an outfit that you can change with just a couple of additional pieces to transform it from day-time to night-time appropriate. I believe that I won't be the only one that has a very busy and hectic schedule and sometimes I don't even have any time to change my outfit throughout the day. Without further ado let's get started !

Day time outfit
For the day-time outfit I decided to wear this super warm white sweater and I paired it with a distressed boyfriend jeans that I recently got (which by the way is super comfy). To finish the outfit I wore my white converse.

Night time outfit
For this transition I simply kept the same sweater and jeans. However, I decided to throw on my black leather jacket for when it gets slightly colder in the evening and switched my converse to a pair of brown ankle length booties.

Outfit Details:
Sweater - H&M
Boyfriend Jeans - Stradivarius
Shoes - Converse

Leather Jacket - Miss Selfridge
Boots - River Island

Travel Series #2-Switzerland-Part 3

Hi everyone!

For today's final part of the Travel Series that took us to Switzerland I decided to give it a twist. I will be talking about something that is traditionally Swiss and that I did while I was in Switzerland however today's topic relates to food ๐Ÿ˜„

I am going to talk to you about Raclette. The term 'raclette' means 'to scrape' which is actually what you do once the cheese is melted.

Traditionally the melting happens in front of an open fire with the big piece of cheese facing the heat. One then regularly scrapes off the melting side. It is accompanied by small firm potatoes. Furthermore, everyone will then choose side dishes to go with it whether it is meat, gherkins, corn, pickled onions or sun-dried tomatoes.
A modern way of serving raclette involves an electric table-top grill with small pans, in which to melt slices of raclette cheese. Generally, the grill is surmounted by a hot plate or griddle.

My aunt and cousin prepared this lovely table for our dinner. Typical cheese that we tasted were Emmenthal and Gruyere.

This was absolutely amazing and so delicious!! I suggest you go and try this meal if you're ever in Switzerland and find a restaurant that offers this or better to attend certain festivals that offer raclette on their stands. You won't be disappointed I can assure you ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tips:How to be a morning person

Hi guys! Hope you're all feeling great! I'm imagining half of my family and friends laughing at the title of this post especially when they find out that it is me writing it. Why you may ask? Because I'm not even close to being a morning person. I am the worst when it comes to mornings; I hate them - I hate the feeling of getting up from your cozy bed, I hate the feeling of having to prepare for the hectic day ahead of you or the fact that you have to put on some makeup and wear something suitable for the day and GET STARTED! Let's just say I'm more of an evening person!

Then why am I writing this post? I'll tell you why! Well ... uni ... that's why! With having so many early lectures starting at 8am or 9am I had to do something to get me up from my bed and get started! So I've collected a couple of tips that I think will help a lot of my fellow evening people haha!! What are your tips to being a morning person? Comment down below - we'd like to know!

1. Prepare your outfit the night before
I'm going to be 100% honest today and I have to admit, I don't always do this but when I do I get ready a thousand times faster. Otherwise I have about 15 minutes going from outfit to outfit trying to decide which one to wear. Even if you just plan it in your head if you know that the weather can slightly change in the morning; at least when you wake up you know which pieces to pick out from your wardrobe.

2. Place your alarm on the other side of your room
I am one of those people that I turn off my alarm a thousand times even though I would have set 4 alarms! I found this really cool app called Alarmy. Basically what this does is that you set your alarm clock to the time you want and you choose a method to switch off the alarm in the morning. Until you switch off the alarm using the method that you would have chosen this alarm will not stop..at all..and you can't hit snooze. Even if you switch it off, once you turn it back on it will continue ringing! I chose the option of taking a photo for the alarm to stop. So what I do in the evening is I take a photo of something that is far from my bed so that I'll have to get up of my bed to turn it off (for instance my desk) and in the morning up until that point where I get out of bed and take a photo of my desk the alarm will NOT stop. Be careful of the lighting as it will make a difference and sometimes even though you are taking a correct photo it will not recognize it due to the different lighting. There are other ways you can turn it off but I feel that this is the best alarm system ever!

3. Go for a walk
I don't have time to do this in the morning but I sometimes do this in the evening. I prepare my training clothing and as soon as I get up of bed on a Saturday or Sunday morning I go for a 20 minute walk and then for a shower right after that! Trust me it will wake you up!!

4. Prepare a cup of coffee
What I like to do is prepare an insulated coffee mug the night before with some cappuccino (the individual sachets) and add a teaspoon of sugar so that in the morning I just have to fill it up with hot water and I can drink it on my way to university and it will give me the caffeine boost I'll need.

5. Do your morning skin routine
If you do your skin routine right after you get out of bed not only you'll get that out of the way but it will help you feel fresh and more awake!

6. Set a to-do list
If you have a list of the things you have to do in the morning you are more likely to wake up and get started so that you can start eliminating the things you've done. If you've got no motive to get out of bed you're more likely to over-sleep.

7. Seize the day!
Make the most out of your day!! Even if you only have an hour free to do something useful - do not waste it. Remember that although you may not be where you want to be you're one step closer than you were yesterday ;)

That is all for today! I hope that this helped you in some way or another.
Feel free to send us blog post ideas on our facebook page!!

Full Face of First Impressions Testing Makeup Look + Outfit

Hey ๐Ÿ˜„ How are all of you? I hope you had a fantastic week! I can't believe it's been over 2 months since we started Distorted Priorities. As always, thank you so much for your support that you've been giving us - we're currently working on future projects, collaborations and possibly a future giveaway so stay tuned ๐Ÿ˜‰

For today's blog post I decided to do something that I have been seeing all over youtube and that would be the Full Face of First Impressions Testing Makeup Look. Basically, put into simpler words this is a makeup look that I've created with products that I will be trying out for the first time so you will be getting a review on each product too! A couple of weeks ago my girlfriends and I decided to go for a Sunday morning breakfast (yes, we were feeling fancy - don't judge!!) so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to create this extremely simple makeup look. I will also be showing you what I wore on that day. Just a small side note: for this post almost all of the products used are new to me except for the eyeshadow I use to fill in my brows and my powder foundation. Links to the products will be at the end of the post :) Let's begin!

The eyeshadow look

I started off by applying my Milani Primer. I really liked its texture and my makeup stayed on all day so I guess it serves its purpose! I applied that all over my face and then moved on to foundation.

I recently purchased the Milani 2 in 1 foundation and concealer in the shade warm beige and although I do not like the tube at all since there is no pump to apply the foundation to your beauty blender I really like the coverage plus it says that it's oil free. Another thing I didn't like is that after I applied it my skin looked super shiny (I did get rid of the shininess by applying powder foundation). But I loved the coverage it gave me - on the bottle it says it gives you medium to full coverage.

Now I know I could have skipped the following step since the foundation was a 2 in 1 one but I still applied a little bit of concealer on my pimples and under-eye circles. I used the L.A Girl concealer in the shade Creamy Beige. Once again I did not like the tube at all - it's so hard for the product to actually come out of the tube to apply it onto your face so I don't think I'd buy it again due to its packaging however it did cover my imperfections.

Afterwords I applied my Rimmel Powder Foundation to remove the shininess that I had from the foundation and to set everything in place.

I bought the Milani and L.A. Girl products from this online Maltese store called Beauty Pixie Store. Basically this is an online website where you can buy products from brands that you don't find in Malta .. minus the excessive shipping costs you normally pay so you get free shipping to Malta and Gozo! They offer products from some of my favorite brands such as Milani, Gerard Cosmetics, theBalm and L.A. Girl. They're expanding their line and I love their service - they were so helpful. So if you like to check them out you can do so here. Also, if you want to purchase any products from this site, the Beauty Pixie Store were kind enough to provide us with a discount code for our lovely viewers - so if you apply the code DISTORTEDPRIORITIES5 you will benefit from a 5% discount off your overall bill ❤ Amazing right? There is no minimum amount required that you need to spend. P.S.: I bought 2 lip products from this site; one from Gerard Cosmetics and one from Milani - so stay tuned for reviews ๐Ÿ˜‰

Next I filled in lightly my brows with my Essence Quattro Eyeshadow using the darkest shade.

For my eyeshadow I decided to do a really simple one. I used my Sleek Limited edition collection palette in Whimsical Wonderland that I got as part of the goodie bag when I attended the Bloggers event at Melita Health and Beauty.

First I applied the silver shade called Hall-Of-Mirrors which I used as a base as it looks like a white shade and then I applied the lilac colour called Hit-The-Bell all over my lid. I loved the colours so much  - they're so bright and pigmented. Then I applied a regular brown shadow (I actually used the darkest brown shade from my contouring palette!) at the outer part of my lid and blended that with the other two colours to create dimension. For mascara I used another product I got from Melita Health and Beauty that is the Max Factor False Lash Epic mascara.

I loved my lashes - they give your lashes more length and volume.  I finished the look by applying some blush from a gift pack I earned from Estรฉe Lauder and finished the look with this gorgeous pinkish-nude matte lip cream by Sleek in the shade Bittersweet which I also purchased from Melita Health and Beauty.

You can purchase all of the 3 products I mentioned from their shop - their salesgirls are so helpful so I'll guarantee you that you will not leave empty handed! As part of their 45th Birthday promotion, they are currently offering 10% off all purchases from their outlet (excluding medicine). This offer will be running from the 16th of November till the 30th of November. Their shop is in St.Julians very close to Big G's Snackbar. You'll find all their details on their website here or on their Facebook page.

For my outfit I wore a basic pair of sandals together with a pair of high waisted jeans and a plain black crop top which I wore under my black and white kimono. Outfit details will be listed below!

That is all for today! Links as usual will be at the end of the post. Hope you enjoyed it ๐Ÿ˜† I'll see you next time ๐Ÿ˜™

As mentioned in the beginning of the post, we want to give you the best blog posts that we possibly can. Therefore, we prepared this form in order for you to give us suggestions and helping us by giving us an idea of what posts might be interesting for you. If you haven't filled out the form where you can help us with blog posts ideas you can do so here. It will not take more than 2 minutes max!

DIY Activated Charcoal Facemask

Heeey beautiful ❤

I have been seeing this mask all over You Tube and I wanted to give it a try myself. It basically promises to remove all blackheads, leaving your face soft and extremely clean. I saw a gazillion videos of people doing this on camera and although it didn't look hard to create it, I wasn't very keen on peeling it off my face.

The recipe for this mask is :
- PVA Glue (non-toxic glue)
- Activated Charcoal tablets
- Vanilla essence / mint extract

The Activated Charcoal tablets can be found in all leading pharmacies while the PVA glue can be found in an ironmongery and even some stationers.

I started by crushing the activated charcoal tablets as they weren't in a capsule - if you manage to find them in capsule form it will be easier. If you are crushing them make sure that you get it all in crushed well, it has to end up like dust. I crushed two tablets therefore I added 2 tablespoons of glue and mixed them well together. Then I added same vanilla extract to lessen the smell of glue as it might be too strong.
What the mask will look like when mixed.

Items needed for the mask.

Just a warning - this is going to look to nasty to put onto your face, the first time I did it I spent a good 10 minutes evaluating whether I should do it or not and then finally I got the courage to put it onto my face ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…. Before applying it warm up a facecloth and heat up your face with it to open up the pores for better results. I applied it with an old NYX face brush to help me distribute it equally all over my face. Stay away from your eyebrows as it might pull them off ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

I applied it in the areas where I felt I needed it most however, you can apply it all over your face. Make sure that when applied you have one consistent application with no bumps or lumps on it. Then leave it on until it is completely dry - this takes about 30mins and depends on the thickness of your application. Once its dry you can see that it has sunken into your pores and it will be difficult to even speak๐Ÿ˜‚.

At this point its time to pull it off. Start from downwards and pull upwards - try to always pull it upwards so that you'll remove as much blackheads as possible. I'm not going to lie it is a bit of a painful process, however the results are amazing! Once you remove it you can see actual bits and pieces of the blackheads and dirt that you had on your face.

You cannot see them here as it's not a high quality picture however, once you pull it off you'll end up with something similar to the above picture and if you look closely I'm sure you'll see the dirt and even some little face hairs on it.

After removing it grab your face cloth again and warm it up and clean your face thoroughly  as some remains of the mask will still remain on your face.

If you do this right the results are AMAZING! You will be left with a blackhead-less face and also it will feel so smooth and soft ❤. I would recommend a patch test before doing your whole face as everyone reacts differently to different products. If you do try it leave a comment down below stating your opinion about it๐Ÿ˜€.

One last thing - if you haven't already filled it in please fill in this questionnaire : click here. We are doing this to get closer to our readers and also collecting your email addresses so that updating you guys will be easier ๐Ÿ˜†.

Happy Monday to all!
Much Love,

Fall Inspired: 5 Fashion Statement Pieces + Makeup Look

Happy Friday to you all ๐Ÿ˜ I'm so excited for the weekend (I feel this is me every single Friday), who's with me?

So tonight's post is all about my favourite autumn wardrobe must-haves PLUS a fall inspired makeup look! Hope you'll enjoy it ๐Ÿ’Ÿ

Statement Piece #1 - Bomber Jacket
The first statement piece I wanted to include in this post is a BOMBER JACKET. I feel that bomber jackets add so much to an outfit plus if the weather where you live is somewhat similar to ours i.e. cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon (the weather hasn’t settled in yet) this would be perfect. My bomber jacket is from Forever 21 and it’s black and white. I paired it with a red and blue polo shirt, ankle-length jeans and some white converse.

Statement Piece #2 - Green Army Jacket
The second statement piece we’re going to talk about is a GREEN ARMY JACKET. This is perfect for those of you who live in places where it rains a bit throughout the day. I paired mine with a grey sweater and the same jeans and pair of shoes as Outfit 1. Although this jacket is not ideal for places where it rains a lot – as this jacket soaks in all the water, it is perfect for when the weather is still settling (like in Malta) and there will be the probability of some rain – you know...just enough rain to make your straight hair go curly again!  Again, I bought this jacket from Forever 21.

Statement Piece #3 - Button Up Skirt
This next outfit is probably my favourite. As you know these skirts are so trendy at the moment. Basically I bought this camel BUTTON-UP SKIRT from H&M and I always love to pair with this black shirt and throw on a black leather jacket if it is cold. Since the skirt is on the shorter side and I’m a bit self conscious I like to wear it with a black see-through tights; I wouldn’t wear this bare legged especially if it is colder where you live. I like to pair this outfit with some black heeled boots.

Statement Piece #4 - Cotton Dress
Another favourite outfit of mine is probably this one right here. This is a simple COTTON DRESS that I bought from Mango.  It’s black and white so you can dress it up or dress it down however you want. I like to pair mine with a see you through black tights and black heel boots just like in the outfit before. This dress is a mid-length sleeve but I like to wear a short, light washed denim jacket over it to add a bit more style to it.

Statement Piece #5 - Blazer

And for the last outfit the statement piece I chose is a BLAZER. Firstly it’s amazing for when it’s slightly cold outside plus it adds so much to an outfit.  My blazer is from Bershka and it is a black one. I paired it with a light nude-pink strappy top and a pair of ripped jeans. Finally I wore a pair of black sandals with a chunky heel. You can change the shoes according to how appropriate it is to your weather.

Let's move on to the makeup look now!

I love fall makeup looks as it always includes neutral and nude colours paired up with a statement lip. The following makeup look was inspired by the changing colours of the leaves and warm toned colours.

A little disclaimer before we start – I am no makeup artist and what I know about makeup I've learnt it from videos and trial and error so if something I did is wrong I'm sorry - however please feel free to leave comments or send an email to criticize and correct me,  I would love to learn more!

For my base I used the Sleek Cream Contour Kit (Light) to lighten up my dark under eye circles and then applied my NYX Stay Matte but not Flat liquid foundation and blended it out well with my Beauty Blender. After contouring my cheeks and chin and lightening up under the eyes with the Sleek palette I set everything with the Rimmel Match Perfection silky loose face powder in transparent (01).

Next I moved onto eyeshadow. I first used an orangey shade from the NYX 10 Colour Eyeshadow Palette – The Runway Collection (upper row 3rd shade):

I used a fluffy crease brush and applied this shade all over my crease. Build up this colour to make it more intense so that it won’t be lost under the colours applied on it. After having an intensely orange crease (yes it will look scary and funny at this point!), I applied Colour Pop Super Shock Shadow in the shade Bandit. This is a beautiful shade of brown with a slight undertone of red – just perfect for fall!

I applied this colour with a sturdy crease brush for more precision onto the outer part of my crease. I blended it out with the other shade using a blending brush and then applied more of Bandit and redid the process of blending and applying more colour until I was satisfied with the outcome. I then applied the same shade – Bandit – all over my lid to set up a base colour. I applied it using my fingers as I find that with this particular brand it is easier to apply with fingers than with brushes, plus it gives off more pigment this way. I again blended everything well with a blending brush.

At this point the look will look fabulous if really blended well, however all colours used were matte and I do like a bit of shimmer to go with my eyes. So I used my Carli Bybel BHCosmetics Palette:

I applied the 3rd shade from the 2nd row which is a rose gold shimmer shade (so beautiful!!) at the centre of my eyelid. This complimented Bandit so well! Then to make my eyes pop more I used the 2nd shade from the 1st row, which gives off the perfect white light shimmer, onto the inner corner of my eyes. I blended everything well and then finished off my eye makeup with a winged eyeliner using NYX Matte Liquid Liner and some mascara using the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.

To finish of my look I applied a Nars blush in shade Orgasm, some highlight on my cheekbones from the Carli Bybel Palette and on my lips I used BHCosmetics Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lust.

Travel Series #2-Switzerland-Part 2

Hi beauties ๐Ÿ’–

It's time for Part 2 of the Travel Series. As you may have read in Part 1 of the series I will be talking about a couple of places I visited in Switzerland.

Before I get into today's post I'd like to invite you to help us out! Basically we've created a form which you can fill in here where we are asking you a couple of questions (this will literally take you 2 minutes to fill in) regarding our blog such as which section you like best from our blog or what can we do to improve our posts plus helping us come up with the best posts for the month of December - we have a lot of surprises coming up so stay tuned!

But without further ado let's get into tonight's post. On my third day visiting my cousin in Switzerland she showed me around the area near Lake Neuchรขtel. This lake is the largest one in Switzerland and it is truly magical. I still cannot understand why but I always feel on cloud nine whenever I see such beautiful scenery.

It is the perfect spot for an afternoon stroll or an early morning one! We didn't have much time here as we only planned to spend the morning here but if you were to have a whole day here you can also take a trip from Neuchรขtel to Yverdon-les-Bains at the western end of the lake which takes two and a half hours.

The villages that surround this lake can be clearly seen as you stroll past them. You'll find a lot of boat services especially during the summer months. Some of these boats also have an on-board restaurant so you can enjoy the stunning view whilst eating! Some of the boat trips also combine hikes or cycling tours along the shoreline. In some cases, boats can also be transported on boats.

I highly suggest visiting this place if you've got some time to kill and if you fancy long strolls by lakes.

That's it for today! Below you'll find links of the previous Travel Series. Hope you enjoyed it and we'll see you next Friday!

Lots of Love,

DP XXX

October Favourites

Helloooo Beautiful people of the world ❤

October is officially over! WHAAAT!? Nope I am not okay with this, time is flying away so fast..just 2 months left until we start a new year! However, the end of a month brings us to another favourites post - so that's a plus!

I have all sorts of favourites for this month, so let's jump into our first category :

Makeup:

The first item on this list has to be the Sleek Cream Contour Pallette. As you may know from this post I bought it this month and I have used it every time I did my makeup. It gives off the most subtle contour and its texture makes my face so soft (don't ask me how because I really cannot fathom this!) , I just loooove it! Will absolutely recommend this to anyone especially if its your first time dabbling with contouring like me as its really easy to blend and its hard to get it wrong with this pallette.

I cannot not mention this next item as I have been using it non-stop both because its the only highlighters I have and also because it's shadows are to die for! This is none other that the Carli Bybel 10 Colour Eyeshadow and 4 Colour Highlighter Pallette. In terms of eyesahdows it ticked all the boxes with me. It contains purple and brown matte tones and then to top it all off it has the perfect shimmer colours such as gold and rose gold. Moreover, it has 4 highlighters to suit all skin colours and these could also be used as eyeshadow - obviously! You can find a more detailed review of this pallette here.

One other eyeshadow that I've been using continously this past month is the ColourPop Shock Shadow in shade Bandit. It is the PERFECT red-brown shade for this time of year and also super pigmented.

Lip wise I have been loving dark brown shades and alternating between ColourPop Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade Rooch and BHCosmetics Liquid Lipstick in shade Lust.

Another item which I have been loving this month and which will probably be a staple product in my makeup collection as it changed my eyeshadow game is this Tapered Blending Brush. It is the perfect brush to apply shadow into the crease as you apply it and blend it out all at once creating a flawless crease. This literally changed my eyeshadow game as I used to spend long minutes trying to get my crease on point and this just does the job in a couple of seconds. Mine is from the set of BHCosmetics 15pc Rose Gold Brush Set, however I believe that any good brush of this kind will do the job.

Books:

This month I've jumped onto The Hunger Games hype - early right? I know I'm sooo late to get into this hype but I've never liked the idea of The Hunger Games as I just thought of them as a bunch of people fighting off each other in an arena. I reculantly started reading them after I saw both my mother and my brother getting lost reading them and hearing them rave about them. Once I started the first book I was hooked and now I just loove them. And please for the sake of it just don't compare them to Harry Potter - yes both are 'fantasy' books but there is a whole ocean seperating them so please just stop comparing them.

Music:

This is probably gonna be the longest list ever, I apologise I was stuck in traffic multiple times this past month so I've been having performance sessions with quite a load of songs ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

  1. Sia - The Greatest
  2. Bruno Mars - 24K Magic
  3. The Chainsmokers - Closer
  4. Ariana Grande - Side to Side ft. Nicki Minaj
  5. Andy Grammer - Fresh Eyes
  6. Hailee Steinfield , Grey - Starving ft. Zedd
  7. Alessia Cara - Scars to your Beautiful
  8. James Arthur - Say you won't let go
  9. Niall Horan -This Town
  10. Major Lazer - Cold Water ft.Justin Bieber & MO
  11. Anne-Marie - Alarm
  12. Zara Larsson - Ain't My Fault
  13. Twenty One Pilots - Heathens
  14. Calum Scott - Dancing On My Own
If I had to pick my ultimate favourites they would have to be Sia - The Greatest and Calum Scott - Dancing On My Own. I've practically hit the repeat button on these two songs too many times! I practically listen to music all day long this is why I have so many favourites - headphones in, world out ❤

YouTubers :

This month I've obsessed over the SacconeJolys - if you haven't heard about them they are a family of 4 and expecting another baby ❤.Their kids are adoraaable and I love just tuning in before I sleep to watch their daily vlog. I have been following them for quite a while now and all I can say is that they helped me when I was going through difficult times - just watching their videos somehow makes me happier. If you are going through something and need something to give you that shed of happiness head over to their channel - this is their pregnancy reveal vlog!

A new YouTuber I've started following is KathleenLights. She is a makeup goddess and just has a very lovable character. If you are interested in makeup in general go check her out - this is one of her makeup looks.

I've also been loving watching dancing videos - might just say obsessed over some as well. Along the way of jumping from one video to the other I stumbled upon two amazing human beings. Kyle Hanagami is currently working with JLO and creates the MOST amazing choreographs ever ! Just take a look at these and you'll know what I mean : Cold Water - Major Lazor Choreography and The Greatest - Sia Choreography. I watched these two videos more than I can admit.

Then through Kyle I got to know about Jade Chynoweth and she is an absolute bomb. She kills every choreography and has emotion oozing out of her while she performs. Take a look at these and get ready to be her fan : Beyonce - Sweet Dreams ,  Never Be LIke You (Jade starts at 2:03) and Live Performance of Weight in Gold

This ends my favourites for this month! I hope that you enjoyed reading this post as much as I did writing it ๐Ÿ˜„ I wish you all a great weekend ❤.

Lots of love,
